John R. Green is a multiple Emmy, Dupont and Peabody award-winning writer, TV producer and marketing executive who spent more than 25 years on staff at Disney/ABC, including 10 years as Executive Producer of Special Programming at ABC News, overseeing original prime time series, news and long form documentary specials produced for ABC and the Disney family of platforms including HULU, Disney+, National Geographic, Lifetime, and A&E, as well as high profile Entertainment specials for ABC including annual Oscars, Emmys, and Country Music themed broadcasts. Earlier at ABC News, Green was Senior Producer at Good Morning America, the founding Executive Producer of Good Morning America Weekend and an Executive Producer at ABC’s flagship primetime news magazine 20/20, where he created dozens of network news and entertainment specials and series with many of the network’s most notable anchors including Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Charles Gibson, Katie Couric, Robin Roberts and David Muir on a variety of themes: from breaking news specials to true crime series, health and wellness, environmental and wildlife specials, to intricate multi-camera live entertainment, news, and music specials.
Between 2014-2021 Green also served as Executive Vice President of Programming at Rock’n Robin Productions, a full service production company based in New York City founded by Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts. At Rock’n Robin Productions Green developed and executive produced several short form and long form documentary series for ABC, Disney+, National Geographic, Discovery, TLC, ESPN, WebMD, History Channel and Lifetime on a variety of subjects including health and wellness, history, biography, and civil rights.
In February 2021, Green launched his own full service production company, 10/10 Twins Productions, through which he has produced documentary specials in recent years for CBS, Paramount+, MTV, Smithsonian, and VH-1 covering a variety of topics including cross cultural activism in the U.S. in the wake of the Black Lives Matters and Stop Asian Hate movements, Anti-Semitism and Holocaust Remembrance. Through 10/10 Twins Productions, Green also produces the annual ABC year-end prime time network franchise special he created, “The Year”, which was recently renewed for its 14th consecutive year, as well as annual live Oscars Red Carpet specials produced in partnership with ABC News Live.
Expanding his media portfolio into branded digital marketing, in September 2021, Green joined Veyl Ventures as Executive Vice President of Creative and Talent. At Veyl, Green managed broadcast, digital and social creative campaigns in support of multiple health and wellness brands, including the Dr. Kellyann portfolio of products, Steve Harvey’s L’Evate You, NatureMD with Dr. Travis Stork, and pet brand Better Wild with Dr. Michele Oakley. In his C-Suite role at Veyl Ventures Green managed a team of 40+ writers, producers, editors, post production supervisors, talent coordinators in the creation of thousands of direct-to-consumer short and long form ads, and also oversaw brand ambassador contracts and creative campaigns with celebrities and influencers including Steve Harvey, Drew Barrymore, Sherri Shepherd, Mario Lopez, and Tia Mowry.
Green has a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from Boston University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English and French from Washington University in St. Louis, where he currently teaches a course on Modern Media as a Visiting Professor. He was born and raised in St. Louis, and currently lives in suburban New Jersey with his husband Anthony and their children, Francesca and A.J.
